Call for models

We are doing a commercial shoot for a children's clothing line later this month and need models! We're looking for girls in sizes 12mo, 2T, 3T, and 4 and boys in sizes 12mo, 2T, and 3T who are interested in modeling and/or like being photographed. Please email a snapshot of your child to studio@kristinawhitman.com. The picture will be used to determine if your child fits the look needed for this project. Modeling work will be done on a "time for prints" basis, and a full model release must be signed.

My sad foray into domesticity

So a girlfriend was telling me how she makes her own laundry soap using 3 common ingredients [one of which was the *fabulous* Dr. Bronner’s soap!]. She said it was better for a child’s skin and good for the environment. Hmmm, I thought, better for my family? Good for the earth? I could probably do that. I think I could. I might. I should. I will! I will make my own laundry soap and be proud of myself for being so domestic!

I was nervous [I’m not exactly the most domestic person in the world] but convinced it would be wonderful. Soooo, tonight I gave it my best shot. I carefully read the directions [twice], measured the ingredients [twice], mixed, and poured it into the bottle. All was well until I tried to use the soap. I’m not sure what happened, but something isn’t right. Does this look like laundry soap to you??

It's as hard as a rock.

Remind me to add Tide to my grocery list.

Out of focus? No--it's a portrait of Tucker! Exiled to the kitchen, he was a good sport. But his feelings on the subject were clear!

Spring!

What a joy! We are growing some flowers & veggies indoors to get a head-start on gardening this year. My kiddos loved helping me plant the flats and pots of seeds. They are delighted when each new sprout pops up. Of course, we have pots that got 50 seeds in them, and tomatoes that are mixed with basil, and about half of our pots didn't get any seeds at all, but that just makes it even more exciting. I love Spring!

Now, Miss S! This precious girl is celebrating a big birthday! I've known (and photographed!) her for 2 years. What a joy it is to watch her become a Big Girl. She is as lovely inside as she is outside, and she has a huge heart. Happy 4th birthday, S!

Miss H is such a joy to photograph! She just turned 1 and is having a blast exploring the world and trying to keep up with her 2 big sisters. I got to document her birth a year ago, and saw her 2 other times this past year. It's been a joy to watch this first year of your life, sweet girl! I look forward to the watching you during this 2nd year. Happy Birthday!

Easter musings

Each year at Easter I keep my kids in their church clothes all day and set the scene perfectly so I can photograph them discovering their Easter baskets, hiding eggs, reading the Easter story, and having dinner. This year I decided to let them be. No directions from mom, no asking them to sit in a certain place or look in a particular direction, and *gasp* I even let them wear playclothes!

They loved it, and it gave me the chance to enjoy my "unposed life" with my family while keeping the focus on the true meaning of Easter: Jesus. It was a wonderful day.

I loved capturing this family. Strong women, loving men, joyful children, and a whole lotta laughs! They were so fun!

Introducing my nephew!

This precious gift from above joined our family the day after Thanksgiving, and it was perfect timing! I had the honor of attending [and photographing!] his delivery. His mama did an amazing job and they are both healthy & doing well! Because I have been so busy I'm just no proofing their portraits! :-o They have been very kind and patient! Here is little S, and a couple with Big Sister M, who some of you may recognize. :-)

I have enjoyed photographing a lot of families lately! :-) This family recently welcomed their 4th child (and 3rd daughter!). She is a gorgeous baby and is very loved by her big brother and sisters!

Baby Sister

This precious little one was born right before Christmas. She is blessed to have the proudest and coolest big sister in the world!

Fresh from the hands of God...

Meet little H, a precious baby boy only 5 days old! H is blessed with loving parents who adore him and an attentive grandma who couldn't be prouder. Life is good!

Meet little A. Doesn't she have the most perfect little baby doll face? I just love her to pieces! I had the privilege of photographing her when she was first walking, and now again at age 2. Slow down, A--you're growing too fast!
